Orlando, May 25 2022
Miami Dutch Lions FC traveled to Orlando on Wednesday to play their second game of the season facing Central Florida Panthers. After an early goal in the 7th minute goal by Steele Norton, the Lions created several chances in the 2nd half to tie the game but could not score.
Coach Lucas Mortorana, who lead the team in absence of Robert Stoutenburg, commented on the game: “First I will say Central Florida Panthers is a well organized team. They know each other very well and have a great understanding of each other. Just like the two games last year we played them it was a great - open - game with both teams attacking and creating several chances. It was the team that finished first that won. Our guys worked hard, and had to do a lot of problem-solving in game. We certainly had some moments of brilliance, but also made some mistakes and on this day it was our own mistakes that hurt us more. After the match the mood in the locker room was just what we would like to see. The guys had the right balance of disappointment and frustration knowing that this one slipped away, they tremendous amount of ownership knowing that the things that were in their control they can do better and they looking forward to the next game to put in an more consistent performance.”
The Lions are back in action Sunday May 29 at 4pm when they play Naples United FC at home at Milander Park in Halileah.
